While this Kreg featherboard fit reasonably well to my new Dewalt table saw, I wasn't that enamored with the plastic wedge-lock friction-fit hardware. It's a universal design created to fit as many sized miter slots as possible and while it works reasonably well a direct fit into the miter gauge T-Slot would work better. Luckily it looked pretty simple to convert the hardware to use custom milled aluminum T-Slot holders.
This is a Kreg PRS3010 True-FLEX Featherboard. It's a decent design, I just don't like the plastic holders which rely on friction to hold the featherboard against the table. Replacing the black plastic pieces with T-Slot holders will insure the featherboard cannot pop loose from the table during use.
After measuring the table saw's miter gauge for dimensions, some aluminum stock was face milled to the correct height.
A channel was milled for the head of the bolt.
Looks deep enough.
The sides of the T-Slot holder are now being milled out.
And now the clearance hole for the bolt is drilled through the T-Slot holder.
All done. A quick and easy job. Probably the holders didn't need to be so long since they don't rely on friction to stay in the slot, but so far the length hasn't been a problem.
Test fitting on the table saw. After using the featherboard a few times I can tell you that this is an absolutely rock solid, firm setup. Well worth the hour or so of work.
